Payton Marshall is the weekend morning anchor at FOX19 NOW. She joined the station in December 2021.
Marshall started her career as a reporter and fill-in anchor at FOX 45/ABC 22 in Dayton, Ohio.
She is an Ohio native, growing up in the Cincinnati area where she graduated from Mount Notre Dame high school and cheered for Archbishop Moeller high school (GO BIG MOE!).
Marshall is an avid sports fan, having cheered throughout her childhood and high school years and also at the collegiate level while attending Wittenberg University.
She completed her freshman year of collegiate studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, California. Payton transferred to Wittenberg University during her sophomore year and graduated in 2017 with a B.A. in theatre and dance.
Marshall graduated in 2019 from the University of Cincinnati with her second degree in Journalism and digital broadcast news. During her time at UC, she completed internships with WKRC-TV in Cincinnati and WRTV6 in Indianapolis.
During her collegiate studies at UC, she was awarded the Jim Knippenberg Memorial Scholarship and the Matthew Woodside Scholarship.
Marshall comes from a law enforcement family. Her grandfather is a twice-retired police chief of Woodlawn. Her father is currently a detective for the West Chester Police Department. Being surrounded by first responders has shaped her as a person and molded her as a journalist.
Marshall has a passion for stories that bring about mental health awareness, especially in regard to accessibility for first responders.
She recently took home first place in sports at the Press Club of Cleveland’s All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards. Marshall also had two wins at the Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists Awards, one win for the Ohio SPJ Awards, and just received two regional Emmy nominations for her reporting in 2022.
