Ashley Jones
Reporter/Anchor
Ashley Jones joined the WIS News team in August of 2022. She comes from the garden city and birthplace of James Brown, Augusta, G.A. Before coming to the Midlands, Ashley was a reporter and fill in anchor for the number 1 news station in Augusta, WJBF NewsChannel 6. She started as an AP, became a producer, and continued to climb the ranks to becoming a reporter. During her time as a reporter, Ashley dubbed herself the voice of the community. She covered a variety of social issues from low income and underserved/policed communities to homelessness issues in the city. One of her most popular stories which gained national attention was the shooting death of 8-year-old Arbrie Anthony. Ashley covered that story extensively by speaking with family members and following the investigation up to when arrests were made. She also followed the investigation of the drowning death of 4-year-old Israel Scott. She covered history when the city of Augusta elected its newest mayor since 2015 and got an exclusive interview with the mayor elect. She also followed closely the redistricting process in Augusta which received much backlash after being dubbed by many residents as gerrymandering. In Ashley's spare time she enjoys spending time with her 3-year-old son Josiah. Together they love being outdoors, watching movies, cooking, and playing with their dog Buddha. Ashley is looking forward to calling the Midlands her home and getting to know the people in the community. Any story ideas? Feel free to email her at ashley.jones@wistv.com
