FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - To no surprise, all eyes have been on Notre Dame’s brewing quarterback battle between Tyler Buchner and Drew Pyne during the dawn of fall camp.

The two signal callers have been splitting reps during the early stages of camp, even engaging in rock paper scissors to win first dibs on drills.

The quarterbacks are coming off the ‘21 season where they both saw action. Redshirt freshman, Pyne, played in two games, going 15 for 30 for 224 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Meanwhile, Buchner saw action in 10 games, going 21 for 35 for 298 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

First-year head coach, Marcus Freeman, echoed there isn’t a timetable to name a starter. Freeman seems comfortable with a journeyed approach, letting the battle unfold throughout fall camp.

Notre Dame is set to clash against Ohio State to open its season on September 3rd in Columbus, Ohio.
