2 stabbed and killed in Huntington, 2 others hurt; suspect in custody

UPDATE: Around 10:15 a.m., Indiana State Police Sgt. Scott Keegan said the suspect is in custody.

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Investigators tell Fort Wayne’s NBC News that Huntington City, Huntington County and Indiana State Police are searching for a suspect in a deadly stabbing that took place at a home Thursday evening in Huntington.

Police say they were called to the scene in the 600 Block of Whitelock Street in Huntington around 7:30 on reports of a stabbing. They initially said one person is dead and three others are hurt. Then Friday morning, the Huntington County Coroner’s Office confirmed that a second victim has died from their injuries. The victims’ names have not yet been released.

On Facebook, the Huntington City Police Department said James Lee Bonewits left the scene before police arrived and should be considered armed and dangerous. They describe him as being 6′3″ with brown hair, blue eyes and a beard. He’s believed to be driving a 2006 silver Chevy Impala with license plate number: DH22225. They ask that anyone with information on his location please contact the Huntington Police Department at 260-356-7110.
