ACPD: Allen County Jail confinement officer battered, seriously injured by inmate

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Allen County sheriff’s officers confirm with Fort Wayne’s NBC News that an inmate at the Allen County jail battered and seriously injured a confinement officer Thursday night.
Adam Griffith from the Allen County Police Department says staff at the jail called for medical assistance and an ambulance just before 8:30 Thursday night. He said the confinement officer’s injuries were serious but couldn’t share any specifics about those injuries. Griffith said a detective from the sheriff’s office is now investigating the case and no other injuries were reported.
