Deadly car crash along Hessen Cassel Road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - One person is dead after a two car crash on the southbound intersection at US-27 and Hessen Cassel Road early Wednesday morning.

According to the Allen County Sheriff, first respondents arrived at the scene around 5 a.m. One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe that the driver of a Honda Ridgeline truck was driving north on US 27 when it hit the driver’s side door of a Buick Park Avenue, that was going west on Hessen Cassel Road, pinning the driver, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The second driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Neither car had any other passengers.

The crash is under investigation. The identity of the driver will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s office.
