HomeGoods likely opening in spring in The Fort

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The national purveyor of furnishings, throw pillows and domestic tchotchkes innumerable will likely open a planned Fort Wayne store this spring.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed the news with Fort Wayne’s NBC News late Thursday after months of anticipation by shoppers. The store is expected to open in a new addition adjacent to Glenbrook Square.

HomeGoods is a jewel in the crown of TJX Companies, owner of other retail brands T.J. Maxx, Sierra Trading Post and Marshalls. The business empire has 4,684 stores in nine countries, with 850 HomeGoods stores, according to the company. Many of those stores are flourishing during a time of tribulation for brick and mortar retailers that face stiff competition from online companies.

TJX Companies is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol (TJX). Investors have noted the company’s ability to stay ahead of digital retailers with a strategy of off-price goods and rotating inventory, though inflation concerns and ever-changing virus precautions nationwide have contributed to slightly weaker performances of the company’s stock compared to main rivals target (TGT) and Ross Stores, Inc. (ROST). In December, the company announced a quarterly dividend of $.26 per share payable in March 2022 to shareholders.
