FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A new decision by Southwest Allen County Schools officials means at-home COVID-19 test results will now be accepted. Here is a copy of the letter sent home by the district’s superintendent.

SACS Families:

Due to supply and demand issues, testing restrictions have made it difficult for our students and staff to receive PCR or Antigen tests throughout Allen County.

Beginning today, SACS will recognize and accept PCR, Antigen (Rapid Test) or AT HOME COVID-19 test results.

If your student has tested for COVID-19, please follow the steps below:

  • Take a picture of the test results
  • All test results should be emailed to your child’s school. Please click here for the appropriate email contact.
  • If the test is positive, be sure to keep a copy of the test result photo and corresponding email for your records for 90 days should your child later be identified as a close contact at school to avoid quarantine.

*SACS does not keep copies of any COVID-19 vaccine records or test results provided to us.

This new protocol, approved by the CDC, Indiana Department of Health, and the Allen County Department of Health, validates the use of home tests in an effort to keep those sick at home recovering and healthy staff and students in school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your student’s school.

Thank you,

Park D. Ginder, Ph.D., SuperintendentSouthwest Allen County Schools
