FWPD: Armed man rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after Friday night officer-involved shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Fort Wayne police say paramedics rushed a man to the hospital in non-life threatening condition after an officer-involved shooting Friday night involving a Fort Wayne officer. Police dispatchers tell Fort Wayne’s NBC News that officers were first called to a home in the 800 block of Lemonwood Court near Northrop High School off Coldwater Road around 7:45. They say an armed man was threatening suicide.

Investigators have not released a name or other details about his injuries. They also have not said exactly what led to the officer firing a gun in the incident. Indiana State Police will assist with the investigation of the case as is standard procedure when a police officer is involved. Police say involved officers were placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues and so they have time to cope with the incident.
