Family members identified in murder-suicide Monday night

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Officials have identified the family members who died in Monday night’s shooting, saying it was a murder-suicide.

Officers responded to the 7100 block of West Cook Road after a call came in of a shooting around 9 p.m. Monday night. Police said one person escaped the home. That person is working with investigators to piece together what happened.

Authorities still do not know what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting and who exactly was in the house.

According to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, the four victims are 50-year-old Mark A. Long (father), 45-year-old Lisa Renee Long (mother), 15-year-old Mahala Long (daughter) and 20-year-old Samuel Mason Long (son).

Officials say the individuals are all related to each other. Mark, Lisa, and Mahala all died from multiple gunshot wounds and their deaths were ruled as homicides.

According to documents, Samuel, the son of the family and also the shooter, died from a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a suicide.

This remains under investigation.
