FWPD makes arrest in Saturday morning shooting
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Officers say they have arrested a Fort Wayne man in connection to the fatal shooting over the weekend.
Just after 12:30 Saturday morning, police responded to the 2100 block of Gilmore Drive where 34-year-old Manuel Mendez was pronounced dead following a shooting.
Witnesses gave police a description of the suspect’s car, and police located him early on Sunday morning following a pursuit with officers.
The suspect, identified as Timothy Hall, allegedly was involved in two crashes during the pursuit and had a two-year-old in his car at the time.
Police say the child was not harmed.
Officers say the shooting happened after Mendez confronted Hall about pointing a gun at someone because they didn’t want him drinking and driving with a child in his car.
When Mendez confronted Hall, Hall shot him.
Hall currently faces charges of Aggravated Battery, Criminal Recklessness, Neglect of a Dependent, and Carrying a Handgun without a Permit.
